My mother always took pride in how she looked. After her stroke, that didn't change.
What changed were her choices.
She still loved getting dressed. She still enjoyed putting together an outfit. She still tilted her hair clip just so. She still wanted to feel like herself every time she sat down for a meal.
But when it came to protecting her clothes, every option seemed to say the same thing: "Practical is all that matters now."
The adult bibs we found were functional enough, but they were plain, clinical, and pretty ugly. They protected her clothing, but they didn't reflect the woman wearing them.
And I couldn't help wondering...Why can't something practical also be beautiful?

A stroke doesn't erase someone's personality.
Neither does Parkinson's disease, arthritis, mobility issues, or simply getting older.
We still have favorite colors. Favorite patterns. Favorite clothes. We still smile when someone compliments what we're wearing.

Why I Created Bavette
My mother inspired every Bavette we make.
Our name comes from the French word for "bib," the word she used when we were children. But our mission has always been much bigger than that.
I wanted to create stylish dining wear that people would be proud to put on. Something practical, yes, but also modern, colorful, and full of personality.
Some people love cheerful hummingbirds and sunflowers. Others choose bold florals, classic camouflage, or timeless prints.
There isn't a right choice. There is only your choice.
Because life's changes shouldn't mean giving up the things that make you feel like yourself.
